David Waters, LCSW, LCADC
Owner, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Batterers Intervention Program (BIP) Autonomous Provider

With over 30 years in the mental health field, I bring both experience and a heartfelt passion for helping others. My journey into this work began after coming to Christian faith, which inspired a deep desire to serve others and walk alongside them in their healing.
I specialize in substance abuse and domestic violence treatment, with a particular joy in seeing clients make meaningful, lasting changes—especially when those changes help break destructive generational cycles. I also find great satisfaction in mentoring new clinicians, helping them grow their understanding, skills, and confidence in the field.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege and challenge of starting several agencies that serve underserved communities, always guided by my belief that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and care delivered with diligence and integrity.
If I had to sum up my philosophy, it’s this: Be loving—it’s always the next right thing. The most rewarding part of my career is the people I get to serve and work with every day. My favorite book related to mental health is the Bible, which continues to shape my approach and outlook.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I started my professional life as an engineer in Silicon Valley before answering the call to social work—a calling I can’t imagine doing anything else.

Leah’s passion for mental health began at 17, when her first psychology class confirmed she had found her calling. Rooted in a lifelong Christian faith and over 15 years of active involvement in community-based organizations, she has dedicated her life to helping others heal, grow, and thrive. With over five years in the mental health field, Leah has merged her love for helping people with a true sense of calling to serve others.
She specializes in supporting trauma survivors, particularly those overcoming domestic violence and major life challenges. With a bachelor’s in Psychology from Georgetown College and a Master of Education in Human Development and Counseling from Lindsey Wilson College, Leah combines clinical expertise with deep compassion. Her person-centered, solution-focused approach empowers clients as the experts in their own lives, and she delights in watching even hesitant clients open to healing as they understand their brain and nervous system in daily life.
Leah is also passionate about mentoring clinicians and partnering with community organizations to expand resources and ensure comprehensive care.
Her guiding advice is simple: “When you don’t know what to do, always choose connection.” Outside of work, she enjoys time with her three children, cooking, cycling, hiking, swimming, and tending her garden.

Todd A. Warnick, MA, MHA, LCADC
Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor

With over 30 years of experience in mental health and public health, Todd A. Warnick brings knowledge, compassion, and dedication to his work. Inspired by his father, a human factors psychologist, Todd’s career began with an internship at the National Council on Alcoholism in Lansing, Michigan, and has included milestones like helping pass Kentucky’s first smoke-free law as Tobacco Control Manager at the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department.
Specializing in substance use disorders and building recovery lifestyles, Todd holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Kentucky, a master’s in agency counseling from Michigan State University, and a master’s in health administration from the University of Kentucky. A lifelong practitioner of humanistic psychology with a focus on solution-focused approaches, he enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and witnessing their growth.
His philosophy: Positive personal growth is a process of understanding what to keep and release. His advice to clients: Practice compassion, kindness, and patience. React less. Be still.
Outside of work, Todd enjoys wild mushroom foraging, cycling, bowling, concerts, and growing edible mushrooms.

Caeleb Roney has been working in the mental health field for three years, driven by a deep desire to help others, personal experiences with mental health challenges, and a commitment to reducing stigma while promoting overall well-being. He holds a Master’s in Social Work and is a Certified Social Worker.
Caeleb believes that mental health is deeply connected to our physical, emotional, and social wellness. His approach is grounded in the belief that with the right support, people can recover and lead fulfilling, meaningful lives. He most enjoys seeing individuals make lasting changes by using the tools and resources they gain in therapy.
His advice to clients is simple but powerful: Healing takes time—mental health is a journey, not a destination.
Outside of work, Caeleb enjoys sports (especially basketball) and video games. A fun fact? He played college basketball. If he weren’t in mental health, he’d happily be a stay-at-home dad.

Kayla Kirklin, LPCA
Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Kayla began her journey with Crossroads as an intern in 2023 and is now a licensed therapist with a passion for breaking the stigma around mental health. Growing up in a small town where mental illness was rarely discussed, she made it her mission to help normalize seeking support—making therapy as common and accepted as visiting your doctor when you have a sore throat.
She holds a B.A. in English and Psychology from the University of Kentucky and an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Kentucky University. Kayla tailors her approach to each client, often using CBT, mindfulness, and ACT to meet people where they are.
For Kayla, one of the most rewarding parts of her work is helping clients recognize just how far they’ve come—especially on days when they can’t see it for themselves. She believes that life doesn’t come with an instruction manual, and that we all deserve to give ourselves grace when we don’t get it right the first time. Her favorite reminder for clients? You deserve the same compassion and respect you so freely give to others.
Outside of work, Kayla enjoys reading, playing video games and tabletop RPGs, and baking delicious treats.

Elizabeth became a therapist to be the adult she needed as a child, and she brings that sense of empathy and purpose into every session. While she’s been a licensed clinician for less than a year, her experience in the mental health field spans several years, giving her a well-rounded perspective in supporting clients.
She specializes in working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions, often blending mindfulness practices, solution-focused therapy, and elements of CBT to create a tailored approach for each person she works with. Elizabeth especially loves the “ah-ha” moments—those sparks of clarity when something clicks for a client and they feel empowered to move forward.
Her philosophy is simple but powerful: when your needs are met without negative consequences, your mental health can thrive. She encourages clients to give themselves the same compassion they freely give to others—especially their children. For her, the most rewarding part of the job is seeing clients master the skills they’ve been practicing in therapy.
Outside of work, Elizabeth is a passionate writer working on her own books, a devoted fan of The Lord of the Rings (which she has seen more times than she can count—and can quote by heart), and someone who once considered becoming a funeral home director.

With nearly 11 years in social work and 5 years in mental health, Rhonda specializes in adolescent mental health and believes mental health is the key to healing and creating meaningful change. She holds both a bachelor’s and master's degree in social work and is a Certified Social Worker.
Shaped by years of seeing both her clients and loved ones grow, Rhonda stays motivated by her drive to inspire positive transformation. Her philosophy: The more we know, the better we can do. She often reminds clients, “The most difficult part of parenting is keeping our own stuff in check,” a truth she applies to life in general.
She loves watching clients create lasting change, and outside of work enjoys cooking, gardening, home projects, and turning up her favorite music. A fan of books like It Didn’t Start With You and Break the Cycle, Rhonda is also known for changing her hair color when she’s ready for something new. If she was not working in mental health, she could see herself thriving in hospitality.

Kenia Manuel is passionate about giving back to her community through her work in mental health. Inspired by her parents’ sacrifices to ensure she could pursue higher education; she chose a career in social work as a way to honor that gift and help others thrive.
She holds a BA in Psychology, an MA in Social Work, and recently earned her Trauma-Focused Care credential (2025). Kenia loves that her work offers endless opportunities to learn and grow while supporting individuals on their own journeys.
Outside of work, Kenia enjoys video games, reading, drawing, and slowly but steadily learning new languages. She also loved listening to the podcast “Doin’ The Work: Frontline Stories of Social Change.” If she weren’t in mental health, Kenia imagines she’d be teaching languages, helping students celebrate the joy of long-term progress and achievement.

Micah Clark CSW
Certified Social Worker

Micah has been working in mental health since 2018, starting as a case manager in Suboxone clinics, moving into in-home services, and now focusing on recovery-centered care. She is passionate about supporting individuals navigating substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and neurodivergence, helping clients build healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Her approach is eclectic, drawing from CBT, DBT, mindfulness, somatic practices, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed interventions, psychoeducation, solution-focused techniques, and relapse prevention. Micah is committed to meeting clients where they are, providing non-judgmental support, encouragement, and tools for lasting change.
With a BA in Psychology from Midway University and an MSW from the University of Kentucky, Micah finds the most rewarding part of her work is witnessing clients move from survival to thriving—building confidence, setting boundaries, and recognizing their own strengths. Her philosophy centers on progress, not perfection, and she often reminds clients, “Boundaries are like a backyard—you get to decide what stays in and what stays out.”
Outside of work, Micah shares her life with two cats, a dog, and a horse named Flash, enjoys reading, traveling, exploring new restaurants and coffee shops, and has a lifelong passion for horses and dressage.

I chose to pursue victim advocacy because I am passionate about supporting individuals as they navigate difficult and often overwhelming situations. I believe in empowering people who are ready to move forward but may not know where to begin. I am committed to guiding clients through each step, offering support, resources, and encouragement to help them feel safe, heard, and confident in reaching their goals.
I will never forget all the people I have helped escape dangerous situations, find safer and more affordable housing, finally take the steps necessary to fight addiction and more. Every client I work with will have my full attention and someone in their corner for as long as they'll have me.
I also have a photography business that I own where I shoot weddings and families in all walks of life. Photography has always been a hobby I enjoy and making it into a career has been nothing short of an adventure!
Some other hobbies I enjoy would be: running, long boarding with my dog, reading fantasy books, and watching all kinds of movies/shows that you can think of. I also love going to the Renaissance Festival and doing fun fantasy themed events/photo shoots.

Rikki Pope
Utilization Manager

Meet Rikki Pope, the go-to guru for all things insurance, billing, and documentation! She’s been rocking the mental health field for six years, making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. But for Rikki, this work is more than just a job—it’s a calling. After finding recovery six years ago, she knew she wanted to stay in the mental health and substance use field to help others on their journeys.
When she’s not untangling the world of insurance, Rikki is a supermom to three girls, juggling soccer games and gymnastics meets like a pro. And if that wasn’t enough talent, she’s also a freelance makeup artist, helping women look and feel their best on their special days. Whether she’s handling claims or contouring, Rikki does it all with passion and heart!

I’ve been proud to work with Crossroads for the past five years, and my journey here has been both personal and rewarding. My own history with substance use inspired me to enter this field, and I’ve learned so much along the way—especially about mental health, parenting strategies, and domestic violence.
One of the most meaningful parts of my work is being able to connect with clients on a real level. I know firsthand how hard the road to recovery can feel, and I share openly about my own path to sobriety and reconnecting with my family. That relatability helps me walk alongside clients as they navigate their own struggles.
My philosophy is simple: stay in the moment and take things one day at a time. Recovery feels overwhelming when we try to fix everything at once, but step by step, change is possible. The advice I often give clients is, “You’ve already made it this far—why not give yourself a chance?” Many clients find that once they get involved in classes and counseling, the process becomes easier and even rewarding.
What inspires me most is seeing clients reconnect with their families and thrive beyond their time here. It’s incredibly moving when someone stops by just to share their success and thank us for treating them with respect.
Outside of work, I like to stay active—playing basketball, swimming, working out, or spending time with friends. Most importantly, I love being a dad to my daughters. I’ve also recently rediscovered reading (currently a James Patterson novel), which has become a great way to recharge and support my own mental health.
